The charging circuit has several power lines (Z) which are provided with energy storage modules (3) for generating alternating current voltage with respect to output terminals (1a-1c) of energy storage device (1). The supply nodes are coupled to half-bridge circuit and reference potential rail (4). The feed circuits are coupled with the charging circuit, to provide charging voltage. The series circuit of choke transformer and switching element controller is connected between supply nodes and feed circuits to receive direct current for charging the modules. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) electrical propulsion system; and (2) method for charging energy storage device.
