The device has a stationary hauling device (30) for hauling a motor car (1) on a road (10) to charge an electrical energy storage device (8) of the motor car. A mechanical coupling device (28) i.e. hauling hook, couples the motor car with the hauling device. The hauling device has a hauling drive to move the mechanical coupling device along the road for hauling the motor car on the road. The hauling drive comprises traction units (25) e.g. draw string and traction cable, that are fed along the road. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for charging an electrical energy storage device of a motor car on a road (2) a charging location and/or gas station (3) a motor car.
