The device has X-ray source (3) and X-ray detector (4) attached to the ends of a C-arm (2). A patient table has table top (5) for positioning of the patient (6). A system control unit (7) has high voltage generator and a dose measuring device (10) for determining the imaging dose, using a vision system (8). A sensor device (12) is arranged to provide an output signal which is a measure of the measured X-ray radiation (13). The sensor device is mounted in or on cylindrical instrument (11) and is inserted into hollow body organs of the patient. An independent claim is included for catheter for use in angiographic system.
