PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing isoprenoids using Escherichia coli.;SOLUTION: Provided are a recombinant Escherichia coli obtained by transferring and expressing (1) the gene or gene group of an enzyme for synthesizing isoprenoids from farnesyl diphosphate, (2) type 2 isopentenyl diphosphate isomerase gene, and (3) a mevalonic acid route gene group for synthesizing isopentenyl diphosphate from acetoacetyl-coenzyme A; and the method for producing the isoprenoids, characterized by culturing the recombinant Escherichia coli in a culture medium containing acetoacetate and then obtaining the isoprenoids from the culture product or the bacterial cells.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
