The invention relates to agriculture, namely to pomiculture, particularly to a process for pruning apple trees.The process, according to the invention, comprises the pruning for fusiform crown shape, made up of an axis and 4 spirally arranged primary scaffold branches, at the same time on each primary scaffold branch and in the upper part of the axis is formed only one fruit link, which includes: annual branches, biennial fruit-bearing branches and triennial branches that fruitify, with the application each spring, starting with the 6th year after planting, of pruning for shaping only one replacement spur for each fruit link and replacement in the fruit link only of the semiscaffold branch formed of four successive increments.The result consists in the substantial reduction of the number of technological operations of pruning, both at the tree crown shaping stage and the stage of fructification and maintenance thereof in the given parameters throughout the entire period of exploitation.
