CO2 depleted syngas production using magnesium based sorbent

The present invention relates to an energy efficient process for recovering a high pressure and high temperature carbon dioxide stream from a syngas by utilizing magnesium based sorbent. The CO2 capture is made in fixed sorbent beds or through the transport of the sorbent from one reactor (adsorber) to the others. The CO2 depleted syngas feeds a hydrogen production unit and/or a hydrogen/carbon monoxide production unit.
