The present invention relates to a carbon dioxide sorbent and to a production method thereof, and specifically, to a method for producing a magnesium oxide-based sorbent for collecting carbon dioxide, which can be produced in a very economical and simple process while being eco-friendly by using no surfactant at all, and can control the absorption and absorption rate of carbon dioxide by controlling the composition, and to the magnesium oxide-based sorbent produced by the method.
