The present invention relates to an asymmetric electrode assembly that can be used to increase the space utility of equipment in which a secondary battery is disposed, and an asymmetric secondary battery including an asymmetric electrode assembly. The asymmetric electrode assembly according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention includes a plurality of first unit cells that have first positive electrode plates, first negative electrode plates, and first separators which are interposed between the first positive electrode plates and the first negative electrode plates to insulate the first positive electrode plates and the first negative electrode plates; a plurality of second unit cells that have second positive electrode plates, second negative electrode plates, and second separators which are interposed between the second positive electrode plates and the second negative electrode plates to insulate the second positive electrode plates and the second negative electrode plates, and are narrower in width than the first unit cells; and third separators that are interposed between the adjacent first unit cells to insulate the adjacent first unit cells, are interposed between the adjacent second unit cells to insulate the adjacent second unit cells, or are interposed between the adjacent first unit cell and second unit cell to insulate the adjacent first unit cell and second unit cell.
