A device 10 for reducing friction betweena portion of skin of a living being and an object adjoiningthat portion includes two layers 12, 14 of tricot fabric12 and 14. Each layer 12, 14 has a shiny side 16, 18, andthe shiny sides 16, 18 of the two layers 12, 14 of fabricface each other. Each layer 12, 14 of fabric has a machinedirection M, and the layers 12, 14 of fabric are positionedsuch that the machine direction M of one layer12 is perpendicular to the other layer 14. A garment includesa low friction zone 52 and a higher friction zone54 adjacent the low friction zone 52, the higher frictionzone 54 comprising a material different from a materialof the low friction zone 52. The low friction zone 52comprises two layers 12, 14 of fabric with their shinysides 16, 18 facing each other and their machine directionsM oriented perpendicularly. Also described is amethod of preventing or treating a skin wound comprisingclothing a living being in a garment.
