Polytetrafluoroethylene Fabric as a Low Friction Covering for Elastomeric Vulcanizates

Teflon fabrics were bonded to various elastomers to impart low surface frictional characteristics to the laminates. Bond strengths of between 20 and 48 lbs. per inch width were obtained between the fabric and elastomer. The fabric surface has a dry coefficient of friction comparable to that of neoprene rubber covered with sheet Teflon or lubricated with silicone oil. (Author)
