#$%^&*AU2014101418A420150115.pdf#####23 ABSTRACT Because oxygenated metabolites have been suggested to be the major circulating metabolites of ginsenosides, therefore in the present application, 10 oxygenated metabolites of Rbi in plasma and urine of rat following i.v. dose are characterized as quinquenoside L16 (M1 & M2), notoginsenoside A (M3), ginsenoside V (M4 & M7), epoxyginsenoside Rbi (M5 & M9), notoginsenoside K (M6) and notoginsenoside C (M8 & MIO) on the basis of mass spectroscopic data and comparison with chemically synthesized authentic compounds. Nine of these ginsenosides are detected as rat metabolites for the first time. After oral administration of RbI, M1, M2, M3, M4 and M7 are observed as major circulating metabolites and presented in blood stream of rat for 24 h. Characterization of exact chemical structures of these circulating metabolites could contribute greatly to our understanding of chemical exposure of ginsenoside after consumption of ginseng products, and provide valuable information for explaining multiple pharmacological activities and beneficial effects of ginseng products.LP P.IQ E 0 LIn tq LA;
