The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising an inhibitor of mitochondrial complex I inside a cell as an active ingredient for preventing or treating proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR). According to the present invention, the active ingredient contained in the pharmaceutical composition of the present invention can be developed as an effective medicine with respect to PVR as ophthalmic pathological disease by regulating cell death of RPE cells.
