Flame retardants based on phosphorus for polymer compositions with reduced flammability, in particular for coating and sealing materials, adhesives or putties, which is characterized in that it consists of at least one compound from the group of compounds of formula aminofosfitových wherein R.sub.1. n.značí methyl, ethyl, butyl, phenyl or-N (R3R4) group, R.sub.2.n.značí hydrogen or methyl, R.sub.3.n.značí hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, heterocyclic, R.sub.4 .n.značí alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl, heterocyclic or other organic residue of the molecule. The invention further relates to a method for producing the retarder, the retarder comprising the polymer composition of the invention and method of producing the polymer composition.
