Provided are a method and apparatus for determining the position of a user equipment, comprising: a base station acquiring minimization of drive tests (MDT) measurement information about a user equipment, generating an MDT measurement log according to the MDT measurement information, carrying global navigation satellite system (GNSS) positioning indication information in the the MDT measurement log at the same time, and finally sending the MDT measurement log to an operation, administration and maintenance (OAM) entity. The MDT measurement log is used for the OAM entity to determine the position of the user equipment, wherein the OAM entity can determine that the user equipment has executed positioning but the positioning has failed according to geographical position information and the GNSS positioning indication information about a user in the MDT measurement log so as to be capable of analysing user equipment position information according to other information in the MDT measurement log, and further can facilitate network optimization analysis.
