The present invention relates to a composition for inhibiting the proliferation and the differentiation of adipocytes, comprising 7′,8′-dihydroxyflavone. The composition for inhibiting the proliferation and the differentiation of adipocytes of the present invention has no side effects which were exhibited in the conventional pharmaceutical composition, reduces specifically adipocytes, and inhibits the differentiation into the adipocytes from preadipocyte cells. In addition, the composition has effects in reducing the activation of MAPK and the accumulation of active oxygen inside the adipocytes, by promoting the expression of antioxidant enzyme. Therefore, the composition can be efficiently used as a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating obesity, or a health functional food for preventing or alleviating obesity.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
