PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fine cellulose fiber-containing material which enhances the dispersibility of a fine cellulose fiber with respect to a resin, and can enhance the mechanical physical properties of a composite material of the fine cellulose fiber and the resin, and to provide a method for producing a composite material excellent in mechanical physical properties.SOLUTION: A fine cellulose fiber-containing material contains a fine cellulose fiber having an average fiber width of 1,000 nm or less, and a nitrogen-containing compound exhibiting basicity. A method for producing a composite material includes a kneading step of kneading the fine cellulose fiber-containing material and the resin.
