PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice stubble recognition sensor that can enhance detecting accuracy of rice stubble, by compensating for a sensor output change due to an environmental change such as a distance change between a contactor of an electrostatic capacitance sensor and a water surface, and to provide a paddy field weeding robot equipped with such the rice stubble recognition sensor.SOLUTION: A rice stubble recognition sensor includes contactors 52A-52D attached to liftable floats 40A, 40B of a paddy field weeding robot 10, and a sensor calculation unit for continuously detecting voltage values of the contactors showing the electrostatic capacitance values of the contactors. The sensor calculation unit calculates variation amount of the voltage values based on comparative reference values. When the variation amount is equal to or higher than the rice stubble detection lower limit, a decision is made that the contactors 52A-52D are brought into contact with the rice stubble. When the variation amount is lower than the reference value following upper-limit value smaller than the rice stubble detection lower limit, a decision is made that the contactors 52A-52D are not brought into contact with the rice stubble but the capacitance of the contactors is fluctuated by an environmental change, and a comparative reference value is changed so that the variation amount is reduced.
