Power cable (10) for transporting an alternating current I at a maximum permissible working temperature of the conductor T comprising: - at least two cores (12) twisted together in accordance with a core braiding arrangement and a twisting passage A of the core, each core (12) comprising an electric conductor (12a) having a cross-sectional area S and conductor losses when the current I is transported; - a shield (16) surrounding the at least two cores (12), said shield (16) comprising a layer of a plurality of metal wires (16a) wound around the cores (12) in accordance with a winding arrangement of helical shield and a shield winding step B, said shield (16) having shield losses when the current I is transported; said conductor losses and shield losses that contribute to the total cable losses by determining the maximum permissible working temperature of the conductor T; wherein the winding arrangement of the helical shield has the same direction as the twisting arrangement of the core, and the cross-sectional area S is such that it causes the cable to operate at the maximum allowable working temperature of the conductor T while transporting the alternating current I with shielding losses equal to or less than 30% of the total cable losses, characterized in that the shield winding step B and the core braiding step A are such that a transverse passage C is greater than or equal to 3A the winding step B of the shield being different from the twisting step A of the core by at least 10% and the cross-sectional step C being defined by the following relationship: ** Formula **
