Disclosed in the present invention are a method and an apparatus for communicating with an irregular domain of a DCN in a PTN device. The present invention relates to the technical field of PTN device management and control planes. The method thereof comprises the following steps: during an expansion or when a single node failure of an area border router (ABR) occurs, which causes an irregular domain not adjacent to the backbone domain to appear in a network, regarding the common adjacent domain between the irregular domain and the backbone domain as a default bridging domain; the irregular domain disseminating to the backbone domain, by means of the bridging domain, the routing information of the irregular domain; the backbone domain disseminating to the irregular domain, by means of the bridging domain, the global routing information of the backbone domain. The present invention effectively solves the problem of automatic communication with an irregular domain, and also solves the problem of automatic recovery after the whole domain cannot be reached due to a single point of failure of the ABR, achieving DCN intercommunication between PTN devices.
