The present invention relates to an English language teaching device and an English language teaching method. According to a specific example of the present invention, a native language associated with the meanings of English syllables and phonemes and alphabets is registered in a native language dictionary in correspondence to each of the English syllables and phonemes and the alphabets by the use of at least one of a pictogram-based reminding tool and a reminding tool using the names of Greek and Roman gods, Grimm′s law, numbers, a body, days of the Roman language, pronunciations, and onomatopoeic words. Analogous terms and antonyms of the registered native language are updated in the native language dictionary based on matching with the alphabets and English words. The native language for each alphabet, syllable, and phoneme included in an input inquiry English word is read from the native language dictionary. The read native language is combined in accordance with a predetermined regularity. Then, a native word with respect to the input inquiry English word is inferred and displayed based on the combined native language. As a result, English word learning efficiency can be maximized and surpass that of existing English language learning based on iterative learning and simple suggestion (memorization).
