The antihyperglycemic action of Gyrnnemic diacetate, an active principle from the leaves of Gymnema sylvestre, was investigated in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats (STZ- diabetic rats). Oral treatment of Gyrnnemic diacetate decreased the plasma glucose concentrations of STZ-diabetic rats. Similar treatment with Gyrnnemic diacetate increased the plasma insulin levels.[IN-CHE-2007-01652A]
