Enhanced Electric Field Performance in Gas-Analyzing and Solid-State Catalysis Devices The invention relates to electrode configurations for increased electric-field performance in catalysis and gas-based solid-state devices. According to one embodiment, electric field electrodes may be incorporated into devices such as gas sensors and fuel cells to form an electric field provided with respect to the detection electrodes for gas sensors and fuel cell surfaces. Shaped electric fields can alter surface dynamics, thermodynamic systems, reaction kinetics, and adsorption / desorption processes. In one embodiment, ring-shaped electric field electrodes may be provided around detection electrodes of a flat gas sensor.
