Grain cereals, oilseeds or legumes are swelled for 1.5 to 12 hours in drinking water after cleaning. After swelling, the soaked water is separated and the grains are sprinkled on a perforated mat. Grains are repeatedly moistened when germinating. The germinated grains are sealed in the package, the package is vacuum-dried and the germinated grains are then heat sterilized in the package. It is preferred that before the packaging is closed, the exact amount of liquid component is added to the germinated grains, which is absorbed into the germinated grains during sterilization, cooling and storage prior to dispatch, so that the proportion of the detachable liquid component is substantially zero. The liquid component may be flavoring. The food product comprises unground, germinated, thermally sterilized grains without a detachable liquid component, wherein the grains are at least partially interconnected with starch leached during sterilization. In a preferred embodiment, the product will comprise grains of wheat, rye, chickpea, soybean, flax, peeled sunflower seeds, spelled wheat and amaranth alone, optionally in combination with each other.
