Gypsum slurry with linear polycarboxylate dispersant

The gypsum slurry includes a hydraulic component comprising water, calcium sulfate hemihydrate gypsum and a linear polycarboxylate dispersant. The linear polycarboxylate anionic dispersant comprises a first monomeric repeat unit and a second monomeric repeat unit. The first repeating unit of the linear polycarboxylate dispersant is an olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid repeating unit or a salt thereof. The second repeating unit of the linear polycarboxylate dispersant is vinylsulfonate. The slurry may be made of gypsum panel. Methods of making gypsum slurries and gypsum panels are also disclosed.
