A wearable article (20) continuous in a longitudinal direction (LX) and a transverse direction (TX) comprising a front elastic belt region (84), a back elastic belt region (86), a crotch region (30), a waist opening, and a pair of leg openings; the crotch region (30) extending longitudinally between the front elastic belt region (84) and the back elastic belt region (86); wherein at least 10%, preferably at least 15%, and not more than 70%, of the longitudinal dimension (LX) of the front and back elastic belts (84, 86) from the waist opening is a laminate in active elasticity defining an Upper Gather Region (220), the laminate comprising an inner sheet (94), an outer sheet (92), and a plurality of elastic strands (96) running in the transverse direction (TX) and spaced apart with each other with a pitch of from at least about 6 mm to about 18 mm in the longitudinal direction (LX), wherein the laminate further comprising an elastic bonding (230) which continuously bonds the elastic member (96) for at least about 10mm in the direction of stretch in a region adjacent the side edges of the front and back elastic belts (84, 86), and a vertical bonding (234) applied to at least one of the inner sheet (94) and the outer sheet (92) with intervals in the transverse direction (TX) to intermittently bond the inner sheet (94) and the outer sheet (92), wherein the inner sheet (94) has an inner sheet (94) hydrophilicity, the outer sheet (92) has an outer sheet (92) hydrophilicity, wherein the outer sheet (92) hydrophilicity is greater than the inner sheet (94) hydrophilicity; wherein the laminate has a laminate thickness of no greater than about 3.5 mm according to the measurement method herein.
