The purpose of the present invention is to provide a power system monitoring control device which monitors and controls a power conversion device interconnected to a power system and in which a parameter α = R/X that is the ratio between the resistance component R of the impedance of the power system to which the power conversion device is interconnected and the reactance component X thereof can be obtained in a short time and to provide a control method for the power system monitoring control device. The power system monitoring control device monitors and controls a power conversion device interconnected to a power system and is characterized by switching the power conversion device to an operation mode for measuring the state of the power system when detecting a voltage variation of the power system to which the power conversion device is interconnected, wherein said operation mode performs control so that an active power and a reactive power which are output by the power conversion device become different constant states at three times or more within predetermined values or less.
