A noise control method involves changing at least one property of power provided within an electrified vehicle powertrain to cause at least one component of the electrified vehicle powertrain to emit different acoustic tones that follow a predetermined sequence. A noise control assembly includes a performance characteristic control system that changes at least one characteristic of performance provided within a powertrain of an electrified vehicle to cause at least one component of the powertrain of the electrified vehicle to emit different acoustic tones that follow a predetermined sequence .
