摘要

This research aims at investigating the students’ perception towards teacherudimmediate oral feedback. Three research questions are formulated in this research. They areud(1) What are the types of immediate oral feedback employed by teachers in speaking lessons?ud(2) What are the contents of immediate oral feedback delivered by teachers in speakingudlessons? and (3) What are the eighth grade students’ perceptions of teacher’s immediate oraludfeedback in speaking lessons?udThis research was conducted by using the descriptive method. The participants of thisudstudy were the eighth grade students of SMP N 1 Kalasan. In this research, the data sourceudwas the students’ answers on the questionnaire and interview. It was collected after theyudfinished their speaking class by the researcher. Meanwhile, the researcher used twoudinstruments to collect the data from the respondents: (1) Questionnaire, and (2) Interviewudguidance. The researcher undertook field notes and distributed questionnaires. Then, theudinterview was conducted after the questionnaires were distributed. It involved two students asudthe interviewees.udBased on the analysis, it was figured out that the teacher mostly gave immediate oraludfeedback and the types were Recasts, Explicit correction, Elicitation, Clarification requests,udMetalinguistic cue, and Repetition. Also, the teacher’s immediate oral feedback focused moreudon mistakes on forms, especially pronunciation mistakes. Related to the third researchudquestion, the research result shows that (1) Teacher’s immediate oral feedback is objective,ud(2) Teacher’s immediate oral feedback is clear, (3) Teacher’s immediate oral feedback isudassisting, (4) Teacher’s immediate oral feedback is encouraging, and (5) Teacher’s immediateudoral feedback is proportional.
