In this study, the investigation of the meal content using the Japanese Food Balance Guide Spinning Top and thequestionnaire survey concerning eating habits was conducted on 145 young adulthood women students in the Ehimeprefecture. Then, we discussed a significance of the Japanese Food Balance Guide Spinning Top for the dietaryeducation. Out of five meal categories complying with the Guide, "fruit", "milk and dairy products", and "side dishes" showeddeficient and imbalanced tendency. At aspects of resident situation, the properties of moderate volumes in main mealsand side dishes of “single life” group were relatively higher than “living together with someone” group. However, it hadno significant difference. As a result of the investigation of undernourished conditions defined by the Guide, examined young women indicateda total of 40.7% of undernourished at least once and 13.1% of undernourished more than twice in any meals. In addition,35.9% of them indicated not taking breakfast. The proportions of untaken breakfast between “single life” group and“living together with someone” group were showing similar tendency in total. At the same questionary investigation of a motivation of improving food habits, in answering the question of “Doyou want to improve food habits?”, the proportion of “I am thinking” was 77.2%, “not thinking” was 13.8%, andunexplained was 9.0%, respectively. In “living together with someone” group, the percentage of “not thinking” (17.7%)was relatively higher than that of “single life” group (6.1%), but there was no significant difference. These results suggested that dietary education by the Guide is useful for improvement of correct eating habits ofyoung adulthood. Also, inventory of present food habit would be able to provide recognition some problems of foodhabits in young adulthoods, and it suggested that is useful manner to gain necessary information about improvements ofeating habits.
