摘要

This research paper explores the use of technology tools in teachers working life. It is basedon a case study concerning the use of the technology tools E-protokol and intranet at thepublic school Bramsnæsvigskole. E-protokol is a computer based protocol, which the teachersuse to document whether the students are present or not. Intranet is an IT communication tool,which the teachers use to send emails, share information, write teaching programs ect.The research paper is based on qualitative empirical data, collected directly from relevantteachers at Bramsnæsvigskole. We have gathered material from four semi structuredinterviews, one observation and one pilot interview.The theoretical perspective is mainly based on Wanda Orlikowskis theory presented in thearticle “Using Technology and Constituting Structures: A Practice Lens for StudyingTechnology in Organizations” from 2000. Her work concerns the structural aspect of studyingtechnology within working life. The main point, that we have chosen to use from her theory,is the understanding of technology as something which is shaped by the use and production ofit. The teachers interaction with the technology tools reflects certain structures, which areimportant for the understanding of the teachers working life.We have outlined some of the consequences that E-protokol and intranet have for theteachers’ working life at Bramsnæsvigskole. Hereunder, we have identified that theinteraction reflects New Public Management tendencies and affects the work-life balance. Inaddition the technology tools influences the relations between teachers as colleagues andbetween teachers and student’s parents. Furthermore the interaction affects the teachers’motivation.
