REMEDIATION PHYSICS LEARNING WITH TALKING CHIPS MODEL TO INCREASED COGNITIVE ABILITIES IN CLASS X MIA SMA NEGERI 2 SURAKARTA OF THE OPTICAL INSTRUMEN SUBJECT. Thesis, Surakarta: Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Sebelas Maret University, February 2016. The purpose of this research to increased the cognitive abilities of students to achieve pass the limits in the cognitive aspects of the Optical Instrument subject with the implementation of remediation physics learning use Talking Chips models. This research was planned by pre-test and post-test. The research was planned in one cycle included action plan, action, observation, and reflection step. There were 32 students of class X MIA 4 SMA Negeri 2 Surakarta academic year 2014/2015. The research result obtained through document review, pre-test and post-test, observation and interviews. The analysis was done by collection of data, reduction of data, presentation of data, analysis of data and conclusions. The credibility test with a triangulation technique was used to validity test in this research. This research can be concluded that: Talking Chips learning model was used in remedial learning of the Optical Instrument subject that increased cognitive abilities at class X MIA 4 SMA Negeri 2 Surakarta. The cognitive abilities has been increased that was cognitive abilities percentage of students from 21.875% to 81.250%. Keywords: Remedial teaching, talking chips, optical instrument.
