Profile for Enterprise Integration. White Paper

Integration is one of the key issues of the CALS initiative. not just strictly a CALS problem, broader industrial groups are tackling the problem internationally (e.g., ISO, ESPRIT, OMG, etc.) These thrusts focus on technical issues, emphasizing the need to integrate machines for optimal information interchange. However, integration is not strictly or even primarily a technical issue. Organizational effectiveness is another concern of industry, promoting changes such as organization flattening, empowerment, etc. The paper illustrates that systems integration and organizational effectiveness are inseparable aspects of Enterprise Integration. The paper is intended to cause the reader to expect more detail through the presentations of solution notions. A Profile for Enterprise Integration (PEI) is proposed, in which organizational tuning, computerization, and technical information interchange are brought together in an effective approach toward integrating enterprises at any scale (departments, business units, corporations, etc.). A more indepth and enhanced PEI is available to the requesters providing appropriate information. Interested parties are invited by the team to participate in the validation of the PEI and its associated modalities.
