Network-Level Deflection Data Collection for Rigid Pavements

The existing rigid pavement deflection data contained in the PES database areevaluated and found to be inadequate for any network-level study of the structural behavior of rigid pavements. The PES data were evaluated by comparing them with existing data contained in the CTR rigid pavement database. Having found the data to be questionable, the authors performed no further analysis. For the network evaluation of the structural behavior of rigid pavements, the authors provide recommendations for future FWD data collection for rigid pavement at the network level. The optimum sample size, the testing procedures, and a cost estimate for the data collection plan are given.
