The use of spark source atomic emission spectrometry for the quantitativeanalysis of low alloy steels with four different calibration modes, namely RR, AR, RA, and AA, was made, Minimal sample preparation was performed. Spark discharges were obtained directly on the solid samples of low alloy steels. To avoid matrix interferences careful line selection was made. Calibration was performed using 10 BAS Standards. Two low alloy steel samples and one carbon steel sample were analyzed using these calibration curves for each element. The results obtained by using spark source/OES analytical technique are in good agreement with those reported by BAS.
