A Pneumatic Tool Diagnostic System has been developed for assessing theperformance of pneumatic pavement breakers, rock drills, tampers and air compressors. The computer-based expert system measures blow energy, blow rate, air temperature, pressure and flow rate for demolition tools and rotational speeds for rock drill chisels. For air compressors, the above thermodynamic properties and engine speeds at no-load and full-load are measured. All performance data are compared to recommended specifications.
