Prefeasibility Study of the Port of Burgas Container Terminal. South Balkan Development Initiative.

This report, conducted by Betchel International, Inc., was funded by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency. The report was presented to the South Balkan Development Initiative Coordinating Group and to the Ministry of Bulgaria (MOT). The purpose of this prefeasibility study was to (1) provide an overview of current facilities at the Port of Burgas: (2) describe future plans; (3) project anticipated container traffic; (4) identify needs for new container handling facilities; (5) provide an order-of-magnitude for new construction and equipment needs; (6) conduct financial analysis and estimate financial feasibility; (7) recommend specific courses of action for MOT's and TDA's consideration. The report is divided into the following section: (1) Introduction; (2) Present Conditions and Planned Facilities; (3) Other Black Sea Ports; (4) Container Traffic Projections; (5) Preliminary Operational and Financial Considerations; (6) Recommendations.
