Supply Chain Management: Implications for Small and Rural Suppliers andManufacturers

The objective of this project is to assess and determine whether the logisticalpractices of small and rural suppliers will allow them the opportunity to successfully participate in an integrated supply chain. The project consists of two steps. First, we identified minimal logistical capabilities a supplier must have to do business with 'leading edge' firms in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn). Later, the research will determine the capability of small and rural suppliers to apply logistical requirments to their company. This will be done through a combination of expert interviews and mail surveys.
