As residents of federally and state assisted housing developments for older211u001epeople have aged in place, 'bricks and mortar' management alone has not been 211u001eadequate to meet their needs. Many developments have added service coordination 211u001eto management functions to help residents obtain needed and desired services, to 211u001eavoid unnecessary or premature institutionalization, and to improve quality of 211u001elife. Service coordination has been identified as 'the key, the linchpin, the 211u001eglue of successful programs to link housing and services.' This guide considers 211u001eservice coordinators' roles, the problems they face, and strategies that they, as 211u001ewell as aging network and other professionals can use to address these problems.
