Immigration and Integration. A Study of the Process toward Common Immigration211 Policies in the European Union

In this thesis the author intends to treat only one aspect of this complex211u001esubject, namely the process towards a more harmonized immigration policy at the 211u001eexternal borders or the European Union. The thesis is not normative, in the sense 211u001ethat the author will not address issues of morality. Nor is it his intention to 211u001ejudge the contents of the immigration policies of the member states, or comment 211u001eupon whether or not the Union has turned into a 'Fortress Europe'. Rather, this 211u001estudy will focus on the forces that have brought the member states of the 211u001eEuropean Union closer to common admission policies with respect to immigration.
