Kansas Department of Transportation Wetland Mitigation Sites: Analysis and211 Opportunity for Improving Success

The objective of the study was to examine wetland status, success rate, and the211u001epotential for continued development as wetlands of six Kansas Department of 211u001eTransportation wetland mitigations. The wetlands were constructed to compensate 211u001efor impacts caused by KDOT road projects in accordance with the Army Corps of 211u001eEngineers 404 permit process. At each mitigation the vegetation, soils, and 211u001ehydrology were studied to assess the site's current and future ability to 211u001efunction as a wetland. Each site was monitored for the presence of wetland 211u001eparameters, and the results were anlyzed in the context of long term site goals 211u001eand objectives.
