The Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART), an organization of ART211u001eproviders affiliated with the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), 211u001ehas been collecting data and publishing annual report of pregnancy success rates 211u001efor fertility clinics in the United States and Canada since 1989. In 1992, the 211u001eU.S. Congress passed the Fertility Clinic Success Rate and Certification Act, 211u001ewhich requires the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to publish 211u001epregnancy success rates for ART procedures carried out in fertility clinics in 211u001ethe United States. Since 1995, SART and CDC have worked together to report ART 211u001esuccess rates. The 1997 report of pregnancy success rates is the third to be 211u001eissued under the law. It is coauthored by CDC, SART/ASRM, and RESOLVE: the 211u001eNational Infertility Association. This report is based on the latest available 211u001edata collected by SART on the number and outcome of ART cycles performed in U.S. 211u001eclinics.
