The goals of this tutorial are to (1) give the reader a quick introduction to the211u001efield of software renovation as a whole; (2) show that many techniques from 211u001ecompiler technology and formal methods can be applied; (3) demonstrate that 211u001eresearch should be driven by real-life, industrial, case studies; and (4) 211u001eindicate that many challenging problems are still unsolved. During the 211u001epresentation of this tutorial, demonstrations will be given of several of the 211u001ecase studies discussed here.
