Adhesion Criteria between Water-Based Inorganic Zinc Coatings and Their Topcoats211 for Steel

This report presents the results of a test program designed to investigate, in211u001ethe laboratory, possible causes for failure of water-based inorganic zinc (WBIOZ) 211u001ecoatings. Failures observed in the field have consisted of either topcoat 211u001edelamination or the appearance of 'freckle rusting' in the cured WBIOZ primer. 211u001eThere are many hyptheses regarding the cause of these failures, but no sufficient 211u001eexplanation exists. Furthermore, there are no proven means to ensure that 211u001efailures do not occur.
