The goal of the Practical Guide is to provide the phsician with the tools needed to effectively manage overweight and obese adult patients in an efficient manner. The Guide has been developed to help easily access all of the information needed. The Executive Summary contains the essential information in an abbreviated form. The Treatment Guidelines section offers details on assessment and management of patients and features the Expert Panels Treatment Algorithm, which provides a step-by-step approach to learning how to manage patients. The Appendix contains practical tools related to diet, physical activity, and behavioral modification needed to educate and inform patients. The Appendix has been formatted so that the physician can copy it and explain it to his or her patients.
