AUBE '01 International Conference on Automatic Fire Detection (12th). Held inGaithersburg, Maryland on March 25-28, 2001

The 12th International Conference on Automatic Fire Detection, held on March 26-28, 2001, at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Maryland, U.S.A. Traditionally this conference (referred to as AUBE for International Konferenz uber Automatische Brandentdeckung) has been held every four years at Gerhard-Mercator-Universitat Duisber, Germany. The rapid pace at which we are witnessing new developments in sensing, signal processing, integrated building controls, fire simulation, and international standards suggests that a shorter time between AUBE Conferences is required to disseminate this knowledge and coordinate international efforts. NIST, located just outside Washington, D.C., is pleased to host AUBE 2001 as part of the Institute's centennial celebration.
