Competitive Assessment of the U.S. Large Civil Aircraft Aerostructures Industry. Investigation No. 332-414.

On April 14, 2000, at the request of the House Committee on Ways and Means (Committee), the United States International Trade Commission (Commission) instituted investigation No. 332-414, Competitive Assessment of the U.S. Large Civil Aircraft Aerostructures Industry, under section 332(g) of the Tariff Act of 1930, for the purpose of exploring recent developments in the global large civil aircraft (LCA) aerostructures industry. The Commission's report includes: a description of the composition of the LCA aerostructures industry and recent trends; a description of the process of new aerostructures development; a review of the means and trends in government support for research and development needs; and an evaluation of the relative strengths and weaknesses of the aerostructures industries in the United States, Europe, Canada, and Asia.
