Partners in Prevention: State Alcohol Agencies' Approach to Underage Drinking Prevention Documentation

The Pennsylvania liquor Control Board (PLCB) received funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation, national Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), to develop a manual to assist Alcohol Beverage Control agencies in identifying opportunities and implementing initiatives to reduce underage drinking. This manual was produced under the auspices of this grant. Examples of supporting materials and all appendices are included as part of this manual in the accompanying CDROM. To illustrate several efforts and strategies, the PLCB used a model community approach to demonstrate the role that an Alcohol Beverage Control agency can play in assisting community and university collaborative efforts to reduce dangerous and underage drinking. Collaboration supports and reinforces mutual decision-making, mutual respect, and the creation of a more supportive environment. It also empowers the community. This project described in this manual have been divided into chapters arranged according to target population and include working with the community, campus-community partnerships, statewide coalitions, college students, K-12 students, licensees, law enforcement and the media.
