La salute a Firenze: studio di fattibilita di una Health Examination Survey in Italia (Health in Florence: A Pilot Study of a Health Examination Survey in Italy).

The planning and the survey related to the study 'a salute a Firenze'(Health in Florence) is here described. This study is set within the framework of a Research Project of the Ministry of Health, promoted by the Istituto Superiore di Sanita (the Italian National Institute of Health), with the collaboration of the Italian Census Bureau, the Regional Health Agency of Tuscany, the Local Health Unit 10 of Florence and the Italian Association of the General Practitioners. The study has three objectives: (1) feasibility of a health population survey within the Italian National Health Service, by means of a well-constructed questionnaire together with clinical tests and blood examinations to assess specific biological parameters (anthropometrical, biochemical, blood pressure, electrocardiogram, bone densitometry, etc.); (2) assessment of the impact of the resulting information on the Florentine community; (3) the comparison between a Health Examination Survey (HES) and a Health Interview Survey (HIS), being this latter a survey by the ISTAT on 'Health conditions and health services 1999-2000'.
