Garrison Diversion Unit: North Dakota Jamestown Reservoir Area and Capacity Tables

The Jamestown Reservoir survey in July 2009 used the contour method to obtain the basic data for these tables. Close interval profiles of the underwater portion of the reservoir were collected by standard surveying techniques using a global positioning system and echo sounder. The above-water portion was determined from USDA aerial images of the reservoir water surface at time of flight and IFSAR digital coordinate information. The computed surface areas from elevation 1,435 and above were obtained from the original survey results. The 2009 survey and the reduction of the data were completed by personnel from Reclamations Sedimentation and River Hydraulics Group of the Technical Service Center in Denver, Colorado and the Dakotas Area Office of the Great Plains Region. All data for these tables are tied to the project vertical datum that is the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD29) and 1.25 lower than the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88).
