The purpose of this guide is to provide examples of practices that contractors may use to meet their obligations under Section 503 and VEVRAA with respect to their affirmative action program (AAP). The examples of practices included in this technical assistance guide are not mandatory requirements under Section 503, VEVRAA, or their implementing regulations. The examples do not create new legal requirements or change current legal requirements. Instead, they suggest ways in which contractors might meet their obligations to ensure that qualified individuals and veteran with disabilities enjoy equal opportunities in the employment application process, and to take affirmative action to employ and advance these individuals. The descriptions of possible approaches in this technical assistance guide should not be construed as precluding contractors from devising alternative approaches to meeting their legal obligations.
